Welcome to the first UVA Foundry Student Startup Newsletter!

If you’re getting this: you signed up, took part in any number of new programs at The Foundry, or participated in a program we have taken over in the last year. (Hi past E-Cup participants 👋).

Our goal with this newsletter is to be in your inbox every week with a bit of this and a bit of that. Mostly, we want to make sure you don’t miss the cool stuff happening around Grounds, but we also want to share what we’ve been up to at Foundry and what’s been on our radar in startupland news.

Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions or thoughts about what we should cover in this newsletter. Otherwise, let’s go! 🚀

Brian

P.S. For anyone who doesn’t know us yet, The Foundry is the new Pan-University student entrepreneurship center.

We’re currently working our way through the entries which are taking longer than expected. If you’re receiving this, trust that this means we got your entry and are looking it over. We are hoping to release the list of finalists by the end of the day Friday (Halloween).

Key updates

You’ll be getting an email invite link on Monday for this.40 Finalists will be asked to upload a link to a 2 minute max video shot from your phone talking about why you want to bring your idea to life. This is less about production quality (just make sure we can hear you), and more about passion for your venture.20 Winners will be selected across the 4 tracks to receive the $100k+ worth of prizes that include tools and credits, Foundry’s help prototyping/vibecoding your MVP, and other perks.Everyone who submitted is also encouraged to book a meeting to dig into your venture idea and how to keep developing it.
